even though i am way skinnier than my mom i always borrow her accesories, like necklaces, earrings and scarves, but the best part is that we have the same shoe size, so i borrow all of her gorgeous shoes =) we have a very similar taste so i love pretty much everything she owns.

I'm about a year late on this post, but I just came across it here and love it! My mom and I have pretty different styles and are different sizes, but I do like to borrow her jewelry (and she's borrows mine back), and sometimes her shoes. I actually have a pair of her earrings on right now. Even though we don't share clothes, I find that going shopping together is really good for bonding time. I help her pick out things that make her feel pretty, and she always makes me try something on that I HATE on the rack but LOVE when I put it on. Mom's are good for stuff like that, at least mine is! Thanks for this article!

I wish I would've found this earlier! I occasionally borrow jewelry from my mom as she has some really cute stuff...and an abundance of it! We don't really do the whole clothes thing, as I'm stick skinny and she's a few sizes too big for me. But tonight, my grandma (who has always been about my size when it comes to clothes) gave us all these old clothes and some of them are SO cute. I'm excited to wear them because they are exactly what other girls are buying for easily more than $20...and I got mine for free. :)

My mom is a really different size from me. She's petite, and I'm tall. She's plus sized and I'm a 4. And even then, the oldest of my mom's clothes are from K-Mart's '08 collection and the nicest is a red chiffon dress I forced her to buy from Ross for my graduation.

I love my mom to death, but stealing from her closet would make me look like the world's frumpiest student with very ill-fitting clothes.

Only a few people here have mentioned their dad's stuff. One of my favorite clothing stops is my dad's half of their closet! He has tons of stuff like colorful button up shirts that he doesn't wear any more, as well as some denim shirt style button-ups. I also found an old worn out leather belt one day; it's worn in the spot that fits him, but fits just fine at the setting for my waist! I have a leather jacket that he bought when he was stationed in Korea in the 80s, and some other shirts and such. Not to mention his stone washed jeans from the 80s which, weirdly, fit me perfectly.
On the other hand, I find that my mom's style is really... mom-ish. She kept very little from the 70s, wore some fun stuff in the 80s (but she weighed about 30 pounds less than me), and then her mom-style took over in the 90s. Her shoes don't fit me, either. If I borrow something from her closet, it's usually a ridiculous, but cute, hair bow or necklace or set of earrings.

I love my mom so so much, we share a lot of things! From jewelry to bag, belts, purses, jeans, it's awesome! We're the same size too, so it's extra awesome! She didn't keep anything from the 70s, 80s etc. because she is very minimalist and we both "spring clean" our closets twice a year. We both make piles of stuff we don't want anymore, and then trade! The rest goes to charity. My little sister and I can share shirts and shoes, and accessories, so it's excellent to live at home now lol! If I need an outfit, someone will have one :) Heck, I even borrow clothes from my brother (he's slim) and I have a great old cardi that my great grandmother knitted back in Italy with wool from their own sheep!
Super great article!!! So sweet :)

I loooooooove this challenge! Every few months I go through my mom's closet and find old stuff that she hasn't worn in decades. It seems like half my wardrobe is hers! I have managed to aquire multiple cardigans, a leather jacket, and a few pairs of shorts that are too small for her, not to mention tons of jewelry which she doesn't wear :)
