You know those days – the ones where you roll out of bed (after hitting the snooze button too many times), stumble into your closet, and have no idea what to wear? Our series Easy Outfit Formulas is here to help! Every other week, I’ll feature two items (which you might own already) that can be paired into outfits for those days when you need some quick and easy inspiration.
For this week's edition of Easy Outfit Formulas, I wanted to share some comfortable yet stylish ideas for what to wear on Thanksgiving.
For me, it's a perpetual struggle - I want comfy pieces that won't restrict me from filling my stomach, but I also want to look chic in front of my extended family. So, I've put together three easy formulas, varying from casual to dressy, which strike the perfect balance between comfort and fashion:
Oversized Sweater + Jeggings + Scarf + Flats
This is the most casual combo, and is perfect for a small Thanksgiving dinner at home with only your closest family and friends. Start with a pair of jeggings, which will be more comfortable than jeans because of their elasticized waist, and throw on an oversized sweater in an autumnal color, like mustard yellow. Add a plaid scarf and tasseled loafers to make the look more festive. Lastly, add some glitz with rhinestone earrings and shimmery bronze nails.
Swing Dress + Tights + Ankle Boots + Statement Necklace
This look is slightly dressier than the last, and is ideal for a larger gathering of family and friends. A swing dress is the perfect choice due to its trendy style (and ability to hide a food belly!). It looks festive and feminine when worn with lace tights and black booties, but to glam it up, complete the outfit with a jeweled statement necklace and a berry-colored lipstick.
Wrap Blouse + Draped Pants + Heels
This final ensemble is the dressiest of the bunch, but still has a bold and trendy flair, which makes it ideal for a Friendsgiving party or Thanksgiving dinner out. Start with draped black pants and a bright red blouse, both of which are comfy and chic. Add a pop of print with a checkered heel, then accessorize with a gold cocktail ring and quilted black clutch. Lastly, try a shimmery smoky eye for a holiday-appropriate beauty look.
