Color Combo to Try: Blush + Gray

Color combo blush gray

If you ever find yourself stuck in a style rut, playing with fun new color combinations is a great way to liven up your wardrobe. In this series, we feature unique and unexpected color combinations, then give you stylish outfit ideas so you can try out these color combos yourself. For more color-centric outfit ideas, be sure to check out our previous posts in this series.

Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, we wanted this month’s color combo to be reminiscent of the holiday, but not too cutesy. So, since all things pastel are trendy this season, we opted to pair blush pink with versatile gray tones. The neutral hues keeps blush from looking over-the-top girly, and the resulting looks are both chic and sophisticated.

Need some outfit ideas before you rock this color combo? Simply scroll on down to check out four stylish outfits featuring gray and blush:

Outfit #1: Studying at Starbucks

Create a cozy yet casual outfit by pairing a blush knit sweater with some slim-fit boyfriend jeans. Wrap a butterfly print scarf around your neck, and slip on a pair of navy loafers. Accessorize with a pair of circular stud earrings, then complement the look with a gray cross-body bag. For the finishing touch, add a swipe of pink lip gloss.

Outfit #2: Hanging with the Girls

For a fun and fashionable getup, pair gray graphic sweater with a blush pink eyelet skirt. Cut-out ankle booties dress things down a bit, while a pair of opaque tights help to winterize the look. Add a black-and-silver wristwatch and tie your hair back with one of these cute hair ties. Add another dose of color by painting your nails a dark pink shade.

Outfit #3: Class Presentation

This look has a trendy yet professional vibe that’s ideal for any lax business casual setting. Start by pairing white trousers with a gray striped top, then layer on an oversize blush-colored blazer. A metallic belt adds some extra pizazz, as does this floral statement necklace. Lastly, tone things down a bit by putting on a pair of classic gray pumps.

Outfit #4: Valentine’s Day Date

Our final ensemble is the dressiest of the bunch, so it’s perfect to wear out this Friday (or any other fancy occasion!). This lacy blush pink dress is oh-so romantic, and we played up that vibe by styling it with these vintage-looking heeled oxfords. If it’s chilly outside, add your favorite pair of tights, as well as an off-white peacoat.

As far as accessories go, this arrow-shaped ring makes a subtle statement, while a gray-and-black clutch adds some contrast to the otherwise soft and girly look. Don’t forget about your hair! We think J. Law’s side-swept updo would make this getup look extra chic.

One of my favorite fall/winter outfits for going out is my grey and white chunky thrift store sweater paired with a blush ruffle tiered bandage skirt from Forever 21! Kind of the same idea as outfit 2.
