Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. Class to Night Out focuses on one piece per week, and aims to help you take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.

Recently, oversized t-shirts and dresses inspired by sports jerseys have been spotted on trendsetting celebs like Cara Delevingne and Miley Cyrus. It’s not just a street style trend, though. In fact, Tom Ford featured sequined jersey-inspired dresses in his Fall 2014 runway show during London Fashion Week last month.

This trend is so comfortable and adds an effortlessly cool vibe to any outfit. Keep reading and I’ll show you how to style an oversized lilac-hued jersey tee for both class and a night out:

Sporty Tee: Class

Stay casual yet trendy à la Cara Delevingne for class by pairing this sporty oversized jersey tee with black leggings and a knit beanie. Add some punky flair to the look with leopard print Vans and a chunky, pewter-toned chain link necklace. A rosy-colored lip balm adds a girly touch, while dark shimmery nails keep things edgy. Throw all of your books in a sleek black carryall, and finish off the ensemble with eyelashes that pop.

Sporty Tee: Night Out

Product Information: Tee, Slip Dress, Heels, Clutch, Earrings, Nail Polish, Eye Liner, Lip Balm

Glam up this tunic-length jersey tee for a night out by wearing it over a black sequined slip dress. The sequined slip peeking out beneath the tee will make you, hands down, the coolest and trendiest person in the room. Add black pointed-toe pumps with a sporty perforation detail, and keep the top half of the look just as glam by wearing sparkly crystal earrings.

Carry all of your nighttime essentials in a black envelope clutch. This ensemble looks fresh and effortless when finished off with matching purple nails, a cat eye, and a hint of shiny lip balm. This outfit is bold and sure to turn heads – you’ll definitely be the most fashionable girl around!

I would never wear a sporty tee over a sequin dress! I’m sorry, but this makes no sense to me. Thoughts?

Agreed! It would look like the morning after walk of shame.and NOT in a cute way

I wouldn’t wear it, to be honest. Maybe if the sporty tee wasn’t as baggy as that one, but still not for me.

The first look isn’t too bad.. I think it’s the only look that could really be pulled off with this shirt. However, I think the shirt that was selected is just too nightgown-ish. It looks virtually impossible to dress up (ie. the second look). Like Taylor said, maybe if it weren’t so baggy it could work, but that second outfit is just not working for me.

No thanks to #2! It does look like a walk of shame outfit!!

Love the first outfit! As for the second I think they mean knotting the tee so it’s like a top over a skirt. Otherwise I’m not sure I understand how it would look. Interesting idea though!

I love the first one (would never wear but it looks cool), but the second one looks inappropriate

I don’t think anyone should wear a sporty tee for a night out, to be honest…. looks a bit sloppy!

I’m afraid I have to agree with the other commenters on the second outfit. :/ It just looks really bizarre and yes, for a night out, rather sloppy.

Why would you ruin such a perfectly cute going out look with such a baggy tee? I know that collegefashion is about being bold but this is just sloppy. It would turn heads but not in a good way.

Maybe for a night out you could knot the shirt over some skinnies, and add a leather jacket, some pointy flats and a nice statement necklace? Otherwise, I don’t know how that would work. Everyone would be looking at you, that’s for certain.

I think the sporty top for the second outfit can work if you wore it OVER the sequin dress, making the dress function as a sequin pencil skirt instead. You can also knot the top.

But my method is still too experimental, that top is too hard to dress up due to its bagginess.
