Class to Night Out: Ombre Dress

Dresses: 1, 2, 3

Gradients of color are popping up in stores everywhere this season – just when you thought you were finally free of last spring’s ombre madness! Instead of adorning long, flowing maxi dresses, though, this season’s ombre is popping up on shorter, more feminine styles as well. The fun, carefree aesthetic created by ombre gives these polished pieces a distinctly beachy vibe that’s perfect for warmer weather.

This week, I’ll be showing you how to style a short, girly ombre dress for both a day of classes and a night out. Looking to get inspired? Read on!

Ombre Dress: Class

Layer up for class by pairing your dress with a super-trendy floral print blazer. The contrasting print adds dimension to the outfit, giving you an effortless look that appears more put-together.

Create an earthy vibe by keeping your accessories in the same neutral family – I think a brown sable hue looks great with the sky blue dress. Define your waist with a brown snakeskin belt, then add some edge with a pair of studded flats. A matching shoulder bag ties the outfit together. Complete the look by adding another natural touch – silver feather-shaped drop earrings.

Ombre Dress: Night Out

Put a little spring in your step (literally) with a pair of floral print wedges. This amps up the playful aspect of the dress, giving you a look that’s both whimsical and feminine. Next, add several pops of color to up the look’s “wow” factor, like a bright berry clutch and big, coral studs. Of course, no night look is complete without a piece of statement jewelry, so add a touch of drama with an ivory teardrop necklace. Complete the look with a pretty melon manicure that just screams springtime.

Love the ombre trend! The dresses at the top of the post are all great. I’m not a fan of the blue one though. The neckline is hard to wear if you have a bigger chest. I am, however, completely in love with the blazer from look one. Very cute!

    Love all the looks!!!

Especially the night one, although I’d wear it with lower shoes.
