The Fourth of July is just over a week away, and that means it’s time to start deciding what to wear to commemorate America’s birthday.

You don’t need to wear a flag shirt to celebrate this patriotic holiday. Instead, take a more fashionable approach and put together some clever outfits of your own. Try mixing different shades of red, white, and blue, plus neutrals and metallics, and adding fun details like stars and stripes for a look that’s all you.

If you’re having trouble deciding on an ensemble, we’ve put together four outfits that are perfect for July 4th: two day looks and two night looks, all incorporating red, white, and blue.

Outfit 1: Daytime – Casual Beach Day

Fourth of July outfit 1: American flag shorts, striped beach bag, navy tank, statue of liberty bracelet, sandals
Product Information: Tank, Shorts, Beach Tote, Sandals, Statue of Liberty Bangle

This look is super laid back – perfect for spending the day at the beach (and maybe setting off some fireworks). To create this outfit, grab a navy blue tank and trendy patriotic shorts. Accessorize with simple sandals and a striped beach bag for a coordinated look. Finish with a bangle featuring everyone’s favorite American symbol, the Statue of Liberty.

Outfit 2: Daytime – Backyard BBQ

Fourth of July outfit 2: American flag tee, striped shorts, basic sneakers, star bracelets
Product Information: Shirt, Shorts, Shoes, Bracelets

This second look is another example of a cute, laid-back outfit that’s perfect for daytime – it would be perfect for a backyard barbecue with the family. To start, find a striped tee, tie it in a knot, and pair it with some jean shorts (patriotic pockets optional). Next, find some canvas sneakers (preferably in red, white, or blue) and layer on some star bracelets. Voila! You are ready to celebrate in style!

Outfit 3: Night Out – Modern

Fourth of July outfit 3: Red jeans, white tie-up tee, statement necklace, studded loafers, eagle ring, chevron cross-body bag
Product Information: Bag, Eagle Ring, Tee, Necklace, Loafers, Jeans

This trendy outfit is sleek and modern – perfect for a night out on the town to celebrate the 4th! Start with of-the-moment red skinny jeans, a slouchy white tee shirt, and studded blue loafers. You’ll sparkle like the fireworks when you add a silver statement necklace, a metallic cross-body bag, and a cool ring in the shape of another American symbol – the eagle.

Outfit 4: Night Out – Classic

Product Information: Dress, Heels, Bag, Earrings, Captain America Bangle

This final look is a classic – and classy – way to wear red, white, and blue, perfect if you’re going to a fancy soiree or out to dinner on the 4th. A red and white striped dress is reminiscent of the flag, yet versatile enough to wear year-round. Bring in some blue with navy platforms, and grab a white cross-body bag to hold your essentials. Finish the look with silver star earrings and an adorable – but subtle - Captain America bangle.

Wow! All of these are gorgeous. Independence Day is my favorite holiday and I always love to go all out with my outfit. I think number 3 is the closest to what I’ll be wearing this year – red jeans, a white top and themed accessories – although I’ll probably add heels too!

the first and fourth outfits are flawless, but both the eyemakeup looks are way too costume-y for me… I think sticking to one or two colors, sparingly applied, would look a lot more tasteful and wearable for a family barbecue or casual get-together with friends. (I’m super into an intense eye look, but it’s just the brightness of all three colors at once that comes on strong.) i think tiny, stick-on silver stars would look adorable as well, perhaps in place of the large painted ones in the second video.

also, I WANT THE CAPTAIN AMERICA BRACELET. so cute. great article overall, i love the classic/preppy vibe the first and fourth outfits offer. the others are cute as well, but i’ll be drawing my inspiration from first and fourth. :)

I LOVE the dress in the last one! I’ll be on the road with friends on the 4th, so I won’t be celebrating, but who knows, I might dress for the occasion anyways.
