I love the fancy brooch and chunky sweater idea! I was going to add my bit on using brooches at the waist, but I see Jenette already mentioned one way. I also use mine to accent existing sashes or sometimes to gather up the waistline of a more baggy dress or shirt. Also lovely to wear on cowl necks to pull them asymmetrical, or just on the outside of a pretty coat :)

I love the last brooch (I’ve bought a similar pendant few days ago), although I wouldn’t pair it with a punky black’n'red striped cardigan. I would like to have this scarf though!

One way I wore a brooch:

To my brother’s wedding I wore a white, knee-length summer-dress. To tie into the wedding’s color scheme, I bought a yard of tangerine ribbon (the colors were canary and tangerine) and wrapped the ribbon around my waist. Rather than tie it in a classic bow, I overlapped the ends to create an elegant upside-down V and pinned a pearled brooch at the small of my back to keep them crossed and in place.

I think this could be done with any summer-dress and ribbon. It allows you to play-up a simple solid color and give it diversity with any number of different colored ribbons.

Really cute ideas! I’m just as horrible with scarves….I just don’t understand them and how they are supposed to be worn! Maybe a post on that in the future? I’m going to try to pin a scarf with a brooch. I love the idea!
