I think this was a really cute idea but … why would I want to look like Lauren Conrad? I know she’s like the nicest in the bunch off that show she’s from and that she’s done a lot since the show… but she’s just some drama queen off a stupid MTV reality tv show. Why not cover Clinton Kelly’s book “Freakin’ Fabulous” if you want real advice on everything from style to etiquette, and he’s funny and a professional.

I don’t get why anybody would want to buy her book. It’s published to steal money from clueless kids.
Erin
She doesn’t have a ‘style’ in my opinion. She is the girl from that one show based out of southern Cali. I don’t know many people from Tennessee who dress like that. Or maybe I just hang out with the eclectic crowd who wears whatever.
But I agree with Lizzy….“Freakin’ Fabulous” is an amazing book. It throughly is enjoyed every time I read it to search for inspiration on whatever my mood is.
Rin
I love Lauren Conrad’s effortless style. While I probably won’t buy this book, I do like to look to her for style inspiration.
I agree with a lot of you based off of her style when she was younger (Laguna Beach days). But she has developed a definitive style in the last few years, and is actually quite successful in her own right in the fashion world.

I have to agree with some of the comments made above. I loved the series of shows that Conrad was in, but have never considered her a role model as far as fashion is concerned. She dresses very simply and in my opinion, doesn’t have much of an influence on the industry…

I’m not at all excited about Lauren Conrad’s new book. I’m much, much more excited about model Miranda Kerr’s book, “Treasure Yourself.” It comes out in the beginning of Nov. It’s going to be about so much more than fashion. It’s going to be inspirational and motivational and philosophical. It’s very much going to be about self-improvement and not which dress to buy from Barney’s. She’s been writing this book for several years so I’m very excited to see what the end result will be. It’s so nice to see someone in the fashion industry write a book like this so I’ll definitely be buying “Treasure Yourself” when it comes out :)

I have to say I’m pretty uninterested in Lauren Conrad’s new book. But thanks to the comments above I found some new books to check out :)

Her new book sounds interesting, so I might check it out next time I’m at B&N! :] But I have to give Lauren props for her L.A Candy series… I personally love them! It’s not the best writing around, but the whole plot is actually very good! Can’t wait to get the third book in October! =]

I might be a little more inclined to buy this book if I had the same clothing budget as Lauren. I personally can’t stand when people try to pass things like 70 dollar jackets off as “steals”. To me (and I’m sure I speak for many other lower-middle class girls with college loans), something has to cost less than 20 bucks to be called a “steal”.
I also agree with everyone else who commented on her style–I always found it to be nice, but on the bland side. Not very inspiring to me, at least.
Lizzy
I agree with Carly on the “steals” part – people think $50 shirts are a steal and that’s like a SPLURGE for me…. I hate wasting my money on shoes (even if I’m addicted – I feel guilty after each one normally).
Rin
Yes, Lauren’s style is very simple but that’s what draws me to her. She’s different from the accessory-loaded celebs walking around LA. I’m definitely into the simplistic look.
Abby
While I admire her put together looks, did anyone else notice in the back credits that there is a fashion stylist for the book… That isn’t Lauren Conrad? So yes, she has nice style, but I would love to see more of people with a more unique approach to dressing, because honestly, that’s definitely more of the type of person I would aspire to be!
Lea
I find it funny that you have to buy a style guide to be “effortlessly chic”.
Elle Darling
They say don’t judge a book by it’s cover so I’m going to give this book a chance. While I may not buy it, I will probably look through it in the bookstore. If it seems worth the purchase I’ll end up buying it.
Lizzy
I should apologize for my original comment. Elle Darling is right – I shouldn’t judge the book by the cover (or the author).
Lilly
I read the excerpt and I thought it was really good! It was mostly about the basics, but hey, what’s style without some basics? She put some really funny personal stories in which made the whole thing more lighthearted and fun.
Her style has evolved into a casual, cute, classy style – which is my style, too. I don’t know if I will buy the book, but I will probably spend an afternoon in the bookstore reading it.
mimi
I bought it. 13:99 @ target.
I think its pretty good, it is all basic stuff but, I have found some great ideas for when I’m feeling uninspired. I’ve never seen the hills or whatever show she was on but I have to be honest, in do like her simple style.
Mikhala
I just read the book and thought it had some really great advice. You can easily translate it to your own style. :)))

I think the book is good, it is how ever more or less a guide on how to dress like Lauren. I was kind of hoping of the book being kind of a how to dress good kind of book, how ever I do think it is good, but the clothes she recommends on buying in the book are quite expensive, so I just bought High Street copies of them and everything was great, I also like it because it inspires to kind of, I don’t know maybe dress nicer.
