Rodarte for Target!

Exciting news.. it’s just been reported that incredible designer duo Rodarte will launch an affordable line for Target this December as part of Target’s Go International series!
The line, made up of 55 pieces including everything from knee-highs and dresses to leopard print jackets, will launch online and in Target stores on December 20th. Prices will range from $9.99 to $79.99 and the line will be available until February 6, 2010.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the Target collection will stay true to Rodarte’s spirit: “What you’ll notice is an amazing eye for detail,” said Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesman. “It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering.”
According to Thomas, the line will include “a variety of great holiday dresses.” “There are stand-alone pieces and pieces that can be worn together to create an ensemble by layering different patterns, textures and prints.”
While many are familiar with Rodarte, Target expects that many of its customers will never have heard of the designer label. “There will be guests who are familiar with the [Rodarte] name and we will also be introducing it to others for the first time,” said Thomas. “Of course, we use marketing material such as our Web site. We try to provide an appropriate platform for designers and their points of view. Some guests will have shopped the upscale collection. We will introduce Rodarte’s design aesthetic to a much broader audience.”
What do you think?
I personally love Rodarte so I’m super excited for this line! Can’t wait until the lookbook is released. What about you? Are you psyched for this Target collaboration too? Leave a comment!

Sounds exciting. By the pictures it really doesn’t look like my style but I can’t wait to see what they plan to sell.
I love how many designers are making a cheater line of clothing for people that can’t afford a 600 shirt or dress.
Let us know please when the pictures of their pieces are out.
Thank You

I hear rodarte, and if it’s any good I’ll see if I can get something. I’m just a little cautious, because I liked Marc Jacobs and his “cheap” collection was pretty bad (IMO) and I also like Gossip Girl, but was dissapointed there!

I’m not sure yet…I’ve just finally identified my personal style and im trying to stick to only shopping for it. And this does not look like it would fit in with my style but as a prospective designer i can definitely appreciate the work of others so I’m interested in seeing what they come up with.

Mmm looking forward to it … although I didn’t really like the recent ‘cheap collections’ that have been featured at Tarjay …

im stoked to at least check it out! although i do love forever 21 and shops of that nature, its always nice to be able to buy cheap from a great designer as an alternative to buying cheap clothes made by someone who only intends to mimic the art already made by such designers. i hope this is a hit!

That’s a good distinction there, Rachelle! You’ve opened my eyes! haha~

I’m still waiting for the Anna Sui line to come to Target. I’m way more stoked for that.

If his designs for Target look anything like his regular designs I’ll be happy – otherwise not so much. I realize making a budget line for stores requires using less expensive techniques and materials, which will cause some differences, but I hate it when deasigner’s style are changed completely!

I haven’t shopped a Target is FOREVER, mainly because they never release anything I like but this looks like something I would actually wear.

We’ll have to see. Target collabos are always a hit or miss. There’s always something that bugs me.
BUT sometimes I’ll be pleasantly surprised; I wasn’t interested in Thakoon but I ended up a few well-loved pieces from that collabo!

The first time I bought an article of clothing from Target was yesterday. It was a very cute cardigan- I’m just kind of turned off by the fact that there are lots of Targets out there, and, well I don’t like to be wearing the same thing as 5 other girls. I like my clothes different.

Y’all are pretty dumb.
Helloooooo? They would NOT sell the images above at Target. Those are RUNWAY pieces, dingdongs! Personally I would be stoked if those pieces were at Target, very original, but…
Just informing everyone.
