A company known for its great-fitting jeans has created the latest fad in cargo pants. Thanks in part to the military style trend, fashionistas from Hollywood to NYC have been sporting the ultra-popular J Brand Houlihan pant which combines the rugged look of cargos with the fit of a skinny jean.
According to The New York Times, J Brand has sold over 75,000 pairs of the pants since January and has another 40,000 pairs on backorder. Priced at $230 a pop, these pants are the perfect accessory for the rich and famous; everyone from Rihanna to Jessica Alba has been spotted in a pair.

oh they look really uncomfy! I love the baggy ones more:)

I want a pair now, they look really cute! I think it would be a great way to diversify your wardrobe.

I love the upgraded skinnies! They make my short stouty legs look leaner and longer. A total DO for me!
Casey
I think cargo pockets + skinny jeans = fat thighs. Not a good mix, I’ll skip this one.
tahtyanah
Skinny Cargo… I think not.
Rebecca
Yuck.
Jess
Idk why but I do not care for these pants. These women cannot pull it off. It makes them look like they have bigger thighs, which I know is not the case for most.
Even super thin girls can’t seem to pull it off. I don’t know. Maybe its just me but I don’t see myself following this trend.

I think the jean ones look cute! Could go with a lot of things :)
Christa
What shoes would you suggest wearing with these? I have a pair of skinny cargos similar to these from Guess that I bought last year, and haven’t been able to figure out how to wear them…
Cara
Cute overall, but I just remember cargoes as the obsession of my tween Limited Too years…never again for me, personally.
Lena
I don’t think that they look good even on celebrities, and I’m not going to go for a trend that’s not flattering. So, I think I’ll pass. I would go for wide leg, linen trouser type cargos though.
Re
I agree with Cassey, Jess, and Lena. Cargoes were built for space, so skinny jean cargoes is kind of contradictory for the pants. I personally like the the jeans you suggested better because they look looser, but even they should go one way or the other: skinnies or cargoes. Some people might be able to pull it off, but I don’t think most can. So no can do.
However, normal cargoes are FANTASTIC. :D ~I got myself a pair a few weeks ago and I can’t believe how many things it goes with in my closet. They’re the especially flattering cargoes that end below the knee–kind of like 2/3s sleeves.

I’m going to have to pass on this one! I really don’t need any help making my thighs look bigger! And hello, skinny cargos? That doesn’t even make sense. Unfortunetly they are just not flattering. Look at the pics of celebs wearing them- they are all slender/skinny and now their thighs look massive (esp. Rihanna). I’ll pass!
Gracey
I agree with Cara on this one, I had a few pairs of cargoes from the Limted Too haha. I do kind of like the skinny upgrade though. I’m definitely going to keep an eye on this trend.
Natalie
I saw a pair in New Look. They’re $70. I’m saving up for them:)
mitzi
ooo khloe looks nice! i can dig em

hmm – interesting. i think it’s all in the pockets. skinny cargo pants look really odd with the pockets that stick out, like the last two cargo options, but if they lie flat & the flaps are more streamlined, they pretty much look like any other skinny pants.

These pants make wearers appear bigger around their thighs, which is something I don’t need. They’re only meant for girls with really skinny legs.
Amanda
Yeah I agree with Nessa, they make you look 5 pounds heavier. It’s only for the supermodels…

The only one of these I can see myself even trying on is the Lucky Brand ones..
Cargos and skinnies almost are oxymoron like. It just doesnt seem to work together for me.
Laura
I agree with (almost) everyone on this– I’m slim, but cargo pants add extra girth to my thighs, an area I’d rather NOT highlight. A looser pair, maybe. But I’ll stick to my khakis and leave this trend to others. Great article anyway :)

I love this trend and can’t wait to try it out! The only thing I’m not sure about is what shoes to wear them with since I’m not a high heels type of girl. I also found some at pacsun which I LOVE! check it out: http://shop.pacsun.com/Girls/pants/Cargo-Color-Pant/index.pro

Love them, own up make my thighs look fine !
Danielle
just got a pair for $60(CAD) at american eagle that look exactly like the Jbrand style….love them! i never thought i’d like them(made me think of my tween yrs again too) but decided to try them on, on a whim after i saw them appear in a couple of magazines this month. im very narrow through the hips and thighs so the pockets were fine, but they’re a skinny cut and some might find the pockets do add volume on top. i was looking to add to my casual wardrobe, i dress up for work 5 days a week and that portion of my closet was really lacking. i think theyre a great addition for weekend wear w/ a cute pair of strappy heels to feminize the look!
