Actress Drew Barrymore may have been a Cover Girl spokeswomen for the last few years, but now she’s delving headfirst into the beauty world by launching an affordable new makeup line — called Flower — that will be sold exclusively at Walmart.

According to WWD, Drew chose to partner with the discount retailer because she wanted “[the products] to be in people’s hands.” As such, all 181 items will be priced between $4.98 and $13.98. However, the brand is using the same formulas as luxury makeup lines, meaning Flower will have department store-quality goods for a mere fraction of the price.

Flower will be available at over 1,500 Walmart stores and at walmart.com starting in January.

Yay! She and I have similar skin tones, so maybe she will have a good palette for me!

This is kind of the same idea that Salma Hayek had. Her brand “Nuance” (which is amazing, at least for the stuff I’ve already tried) is formulated with similar ingredients to high end makeup, and she turned down departments stores {it’s only for CVS)
She uses a lot of indigenous Mexican ingredients that her grandmother used as a cosmetologist. And the products are packaged so uniquely and beautifully…. Love them!
I like where this is going, because so many high end brands have ingredients similar to dollar store or drugstore items, we’re only paying for the brand name and slightly finer textures. I’m glad that women on a budget can now get some beautiful products at a decent price level.

I am definately going to try this line but I don’t get why Drew Barrimore, an actress, would launch a makeup line.

I love, love, love Drew Barrymore and I really hope this line succeeds! Unfortunately, I’m from the Phil so unless they sell it here, I won’t be able to get my hands on them.

I’m excited to try out her budget line. So is she done being the face of covergirl now?

Do you know if this line will be cruelty free? I would love to test it out, but am a bit hestitant due to her being a Covergirl spokesperson… since Covergirl tests on animals. Any further info would be awesome!

@Ellen- Yep! Drew’s Cover Girl contract ends in January, which is why she decided to start her own makeup line.

@Rachel- Drew’s line won’t have any affiliation with Cover Girl. However, the WWD article didn’t have any information about whether or not the makeup will be cruelty-free. If it helps, the parent company that’s producing the line is called the Maesa Group.
