College Fashion’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week coverage kicks off today with one of the first brands that showed yesterday at Bryant Park, BCBG Max Azria.

CF was invited to this show, but unfortunately scheduling issues prevented us from covering it live. Fortunately for us (and you), Style.com‘s amazing runway photographers caught it all! Read on to see some of our favorite looks from the show as well as a review and rundown of the key trends.

CF Runway Review:

If you’re at all familiar with BCBG, you probably already know what to expect from the line. This year’s collection stayed true to the brand’s aesthetic: young, sexy, fun, and wearable. Celebrities such as Amanda Bynes and Leigh Lezark sat front row, which is fitting because we can totally picture them wearing the clothes.

This season’s BCBG collection consisted of a slew of fun, wearable dresses that would be perfect for a night out. Styles ranged from 80′s throwback, complete with neon hues and asymmetric construction, to greek goddess, with thoughtfully draped jersey and flowing silhouettes. The basic tee shirt dress received an update with the addition of sheer panels and strategically-placed slits. Sex appeal was also part of the mix – in an obvious nod to his work at Hervé Léger, Azria sent a few gorgeous bandage dresses down the runway as well.

Overall, this collection was just what you’d expect from BCBG Max Azria – nothing too boundary-pushing, but still a group of very pretty and extremely wearable looks sure to be seen on it-girls all over this spring.

Fashion Show Cliffs Notes:

Overall Themes: * Youth * Femininity * Sex appeal * Color

Key Trends: * 80′s Revival * Asymmetry * Bandage Dresses * Colorblocking * Maxi Dresses * Tee Shirt Dresses * Sheer

What do you think?

In the meantime, I want to know your thoughts on this collection! Do you like what you see or does it leave something to be desired? Would you wear the pieces? Let us know in the comments!

They are so simple but yet edgy very very edgy and total 80s inspired. I love the 80s so that’s why I love all these dresses :)

I love the Multi color short in the front and long in the back dress lol. I can see myself wearing it. Its too cute

I HATE all of the key trends- the 80′s had hideous fashion (IMO) I don’t see anything working for me, good thing they’ll be other trends to try out!

The blue bandage dress and the asymmetrical dress are gorgeous, and I could definitely wear something like most of these pieces. The middle one in the top seems more 60′s than 80′s to me, which is possibly even cooler. I LOVE seeing wearable, real-world clothing on the runway…not crazy stuff like, oh, designer bunny ears. (Sorry, still wondering if I dreamed that one…it can’t be real :o )

I’ve always loved BCBG. From this group of pictures, I could totally see myself wearing the grey dress. I like the purple one, but I wouldn’t really feel comfortable wearing it with all those sheer parts. I like the long white one, as well, although I don’t really ever wear long dresses.

I’ve always loved BCBG for its wearability, but I always feel like I’ve seen their designs before. Nothing very original, which is sad because their design asthetics are fab. But then again, being too original or ‘out there’ can compromise on its easy wearability, so I better stop complaining! Love the constantly updated CF! Did you attend Fashion’s Night Out? I would love to hear your take on it!!

I cam totally see myself in the grey dress and the white goddess like dress! But the designs aren’t really stand out, I can see tons of similar dresses at forever21 and charlotte russe.

“If you’re at all familiar with BCBG, you probably already know what to expect from the line.” I totally agree with you. I love BCBG’s dresses, they’re very… consistent. But I kind of wish they’d change it up a bit.

I love that grey dress and the purple bandage dress is really cute too. I’d definitely wear those.
