Everyone with the slightest interest in fashion was shaken at the terrible news of Alexander McQueen’s untimely death last month. Not only were most grieving over the loss of a life, but most were also concerned with the future of his incredible line.

Thankfully, Alexander’s Fall 2010 Ready To Wear line was 80% complete at the time of his passing, so his staff members were able to finish his work. The Fall 2010 collection was presented last week in an intimate show with only a few attendees.

Alexander’s Fall 2010 collection channeled the Medieval era. A regal color palette of white, gold, red, black, and blue was used to add to the historic, gilded age feel. In addition, ornamental details and military silhouettes were reminiscent of the orient. All of the models donned gold-accented platform shoes, and a few even sported fierce over-the-knee boots. Turtlenecks and black belts were frequently used accents.

On the beauty front, makeup was kept to a minimum and looked very natural, except for the models’ eyebrows, which were very bold. The models’ hair was slicked back, and some models even had rooster-like faux hawks that looked like feather headdresses.

Everything is incredibly beautiful, but not very wearable. I wonder how these looks will be translated for celebrities on the red carpet, as that’s what usually happens.

I really dislike the hair and makeup, it’s unattractive. I’ve seen it all over the runways recently, and it makes no since to me. They look like dead people, no?

I absolutely adore everything. It is pure art. The dresses in the last line of pictures on this post are completely wearable on the red carpet by stars who love to take fashion risks. The leaves/feathers effect on the first dress is stunning.

I loved the short yellow dresses, I seriously would wear them if I could afford them. I also loved the shoes, I like them so much better than last season’s fairy shoes.

It’s amazing what he could do with all of these materials. This is real art.

I frequent College Fashion often, but I don’t comment too often. I’m doing so now because I can’t help but put in my two cents of how in awe I am of his latest work. Though I almost regret saying that because it does sound like I’m only saying that because of his untimely death. But I really am in love with the regal theme, the bold colors, and how the models’ makeup don’t try to compete with the strong palette. The clothes are structured, but still feminine– they hold a presence all on their own.

    Bravo, McQueen, bravo.

I LOVE all of it. Except for the fact that none of this really is ready to wear…
But I completely adore the direction that he was going in, the whole middle ages adorned aspect is so romantic and extremely well done.

The only thing that I don’t absolutely love is the suit in the first three pictures.. otherwise everything else is perfect.

LOVE IT! Too bad reality does not permit us to wear such pieces of art. Kudos to his staff for keeping his aesthetics in tact. The Great Alexander McQueen would be very proud.

They are just BEAUTIFUL – seriously they are works of art, so regal and breathtaking! Those yellow dresses could actually work on the red carpet! I’m in love with these looks!

IT IS ALL SO BEAUTYFUL … i don’t really like the pants suite, but seriously, now i got one more reason on my “why-i-need-to-get-ritch” list, i really like the mohawk hairpiece. i have always wanted a mohawk, but never really dared, this hairpiece is fresh, new, stylish, and fun. And i will not talk about the dresses because it would be a too long comment.
Really i just try to learn about fashions over the last year, and it has taken a lot of work (for some it comes naturally, but i have never had a lot of girl friends, so…), but now i really get it.

This line pretty much took my breath away. Very beautifully made. I love the regal colors and the styling is remarkable. I’m in love with this line. Everything is artfully placed.
