The series’ idea is great, but I am not 100% sure that those items are real ‘basics’, that is, that they would serve everyone…

For instance: Some girls were not meant to wear floral prints – they just look like a runaway peasant just arrived in the city. Also, the classic pants in some other people just give them a dusty, squarish vibe. I agree with someone who suggested above that more modern pants’ styles be included. What about girls with bigger bust? If they adopt “volume” tops, they’ll look like a good bag of potatoes!

I love this blog. It would be amazing to see some useful info regarding clothing fits re. body shape. I think this is the point many girls need help with!

just wondering if you have any tips on how to “pull off” skinnies. Im not always totally comfortable with my legs and i just cant see how skinny jeans would be very flattering…..and it seems like 2/3 the posts on CF have skinny jeans as a part of the outfit(s).

I also have those gray boots from Target. :) I agree, they are extremely comfy to wear with almost anything. There have been many times I’ve been late and shoved my jeans in the top of them and ran out the door! They’re very versatile. :)

Also, I just bought a great pair of black skinnies from F21. I’m wearing them right now! Great article, I liked all the pieces.

Pacsun is the only place I get skinny jeans from, as well! They are way more comfortable then any other place. They are skinny, but don’t sufocate you or make you look like you just tried to wear something 2 sizes too small.

Pacsun is my favorite place to get skinny jeans. Actually, it’s the ONLY place I go to get a good pair.

I think featuring more flats is an awesome idea! I don’t think it’s necessary to walk around in heels all day. Besides, I have flat feet so heels are way too painful to consider.

Excellent post on the basics, though it is missing a good white blouse. For skinnies or any other basic type of jeans I love Delia’s, where they are reasonably priced and come in a bajillion washes and colors, and, here’s the best part, all different lengths, from 26 inch inseam on up, and all sizes, from 00 on up. It is awesome, for smaller or taller girls who just don’t fit into the average categories. (28″ is my length; I’m 5′4″ish, so most “shorts” are too short, while most “regulars” are still too long.) Also, more flats? Really? Flats abound in life and on college campuses already. Have the courage, have the endurance. Rock the heels, girls!!

Gr8 article, love this list! Those UO skinny jeans are PEREFCTION. We don’t have a store here, so I like my skinnies from H&M and Forever 21. A lot of stores call jeans “skinnies” when they’re just slim fit and straight legged. Annoying.
The floral scarf is beautiful too. I have tons of chunky knit scarves that never see the light of day since winter here is so short-lived.

This list is great! I have a pair of gray dress pants that I bought from Old Navy for like $9! They were on clearance and such a steal because they are so versatile. ♥ And kudos to the girl that asked for more flats to be displayed here. Flats are a staple in my closet and they are perfect college girl wear because they are cute and comfortable.

That asymmetrical dress is hot!
