This series is amazing! I just moved to a new apartment and it’s much smaller than the last, so organizing my things to save space has become something of an obsession. The t-shirt drawer arrangement trick is especially great.

Unfortunately, my closet has no rods, and instead has a 2-tier wall shelf that precludes the placement of one where there used to be. I don’t really have the room for a pop-up armoire or anything that takes much floor space. Do you know of a method or contraption to somehow still hang dresses and jackets?

While searching for some cheap jewelry organizes, I came across the idea of storing earrings in ice cube trays. I thought it was genius and picked up a couple trays at Walmart. Its a great way to see all your earrings and you can also put some shorter, more delicate necklaces in the trays. I put my trays in one of my dresser drawers, so its super easy to find earrings or necklaces to go with my outfit in the morning :)

I’m not sure if anyone mentioned this, but I determine what goes folded and what goes hung in the closet by how the store had it when I bought it. So if you’re unsure, just try to remember how the store presented the item.

you can also hang a towel rack in your cloest to hang your belts, scarves, and necklaces ;)

make use of the empty wall space on the SIDES of your closet

storing vertically instead of horozontally helps add space for your stuff

I bought a small bookcase from target that has three shelves and put it in my closet to hold my purses and shoes, it works like a dream and looks cute too because it’s wood :)

i used to hang my necklaces on tumb tacks on the wall inside my closet, cheap and you can see all your necklaces.

i like to keep all of my clothing and accessories visible and easy to get to because i’m a firm believer in “out of signt, out of mind.”, which means the less available your make your clothes/accessories, the less you will wear them

i organize my clothes by type, not by color. i’ve found that organizing this way sparks my creativity because seeing different colors together gives me new ideas for putting outfits together

Hey Nicole. You also might want to try PlatosCloset.com and check out if there’s one by you…and if its like 30 minutes away and you have a car, its deff worth the trip. You can sell your clothes and then pick up gently used new stuff. I’ve gotten amazing deals there.

Hey Meggy.. Care to share with us your color coded month? It seems like a really good idea to stop wearing the same ole stuff. I go to art school, so I wear the stuff that I don’t want to get paint on, on the weekends…. Do you ever put “wear a skirt today” Or “wear boots” Or..”base an outfit around your favorite necklace” (of course all weather permitting) It could be a really cute follow up post that alot of people might get use from.
