It seems that as soon as February hits, all we see are red clothes, store decorations covered in hearts, and hundreds upon hundreds of cards dedicated to the holiday of love. Whether you’re single or taken, Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and it’s time to think about what you’re going to wear!

With this week’s edition of Outfits Under $100, I’ve created 3 cute, budget-friendly outfits ready to wear for any valentine occasion. Whether you’re going out with your significant other or celebrating your singleness with a bunch of your girlfriends, with these great outfits, you’ll be ready to dress your best for February 14th.

Outfit #1: Fancy Date! (Total $96.80)

Though I titled it “Fancy Date,” this outfit is not only for those who have a special someone to spend Valentine’s Day with, but also for those who just like dressing up!

I started with a Valentine’s classic – a LRD (little red dress). Red is a bold color, but the length of this dress and its sleeveless design allows it to remain classic. I decided to pair it with bold red shoes (come on, it is Valentine’s Day) for some extra oomph. Because the red color scheme is the main focus of this outfit, don’t go overboard with the accessories. A simple leather clutch and some pearl bracelets are the perfect choices to keep this outfit looking classy.

Outfit #2: Casual Valentine (Total: $99.47)

Who says that Valentine’s Day is just for couples? If you’re unattached, a great way to celebrate this holiday is to spend time with your girlfriends and go out declaring your singleness!

And what better way to declare that you’re on the prowl than by rocking a cheetah printed blazer? As with the pink blazer above, any printed blazer already draws lots of focus, so keep everything else simple. One of my favorite trends this year is the pleated skirt (and this skirt is high waisted!). The color, a rich maroon, is perfect for Valentine’s Day. To match the blazer, I’ve paired this outfit with some silver bracelets and grey heels with a hint of sparkle.

I don’t know about you guys, but when I see a sweater dress in a store, I don’t necessarily run right to it – it’s hard for me to find the right style. In my experience, sweater dresses are usually too clingy and tight for my liking… and I am ALL about comfort. So, that being said, when I saw this one from Papaya for less than $10 – I nearly died.

This sweater dress is the one, guys. Its fitted top and looser bottom are extremely flattering, and even though the one I chose to use is black, it comes in a bunch of different neutral colors. This first look is my favorite of the three thanks to its neutral color palette with little pops of red and turquoise. Starting with the dress, I added a pair of thigh-high gray socks and an awesome pair of distressed cognac knee-high boots. This amazing geometric-printed waterfall cardigan adds tons of interest and texture, while this simple spiked turquoise necklace plays off the colors in the sweater. I would wear this to class on a warmer winter day, or out shopping with friends.

This outfit, although with less layers and color than the first, still has tons of interesting details that keep it fresh and stylish. I paired the dress this time with some awesome wine-colored patterned tights and some lace-less gray oxfords. This neutral-toned leopard print scarf plays off the shoes, and simple black wayfarers keep the look extra laid back and street style-worthy.

For a dressier night out, I decided to add two super-bright splashes of color to give the dress a fun vibe. I chose this pretty beige cardigan with oversized ruffle detailing in the front and a super-chic snakeskin, black, gray, and nude clutch to work with the colors in the dress and sweater. Then, to really make the outfit pop, I added these amazing hot pink lace up booties, and an identical lipstick to match! I’d keep the rest of the makeup super simple – simple black winged liner and mascara would be HOT!

With this week’s edition of Outfits Under $100, I’ve created two outfits that will help you show off your team spirit, but still bring out your great taste in fashion. Even if you don’t intend on going to a Super Bowl party, you can easily substitute pieces or change your color set to match your school colors. With a few adjustments, each of these outfits can easily be transformed into outfits to wear to any game, not just the football variety.

Tips for Getting Great Sports Gear

• Buy apparel during the off-season: When the season is over, most stores tend to put sports apparel on sale in order to make room for other sports. Shop during the off-season of your favorite sport to get the best deals.
• Don’t feel obligated to just buy apparel with the team’s logo: Especially if you’re on a budget, buying apparel with team logos can be expensive. Branded merchandise tends to cost more than normal apparel, so instead of buying a jersey, wear a shirt that you already have in that color. Or buy a dress or tunic in your team colors. That way, you can wear it not only to football games, but even to dinners and other occasions.
• Accessorize: A great way to show your team spirit without having to buy a totally new outfit is with accessories. Hats, scarves, rings, and necklaces are all great accessories that you can buy for pretty decent prices that will show off your team spirit without breaking the bank.

This outfit shows that you really can display your team spirit without being branded in team logos from head to toe. First, I chose a blue striped tank in the colors of the Patriots. This cardigan from Abercrombie and Fitch is a perfect piece to throw over your team shirt – it’s feminine but still gives off that old school Ivy League sports vibe. Accessories are a key component of this outfit. Red nail polish, blue shoes, red feather earrings, and assorted bracelets are great accessories that not only show your team spirit but can easily be worn with other outfits.

Sometimes our boyfriend’s shirts just don’t flatter us in the right way. If you’re die-hard-sports fan, sometimes investing in women’s sports apparel is worth it. I love this vintage-looking Giants shirt from Alloy: The off-the-shoulder detail is super sexy while still maintaining the sporty look at the same time. If you’re as much of a sports fan as I am, then you definitely need comfy shoes to jump up and down in. These red shoes from Forever 21 are the perfect accent to a mostly neutral outfit. Plus, red is the accent color of the Giants’ white jersey. Finally, the blue bag is the perfect shade for a Giants fan.

I recently bought a short sleeved sweater and I have worn it to death – it’s definitely become one of my go-to pieces. Its short sleeves actually make it much more versatile – it’s perfect for those random spring-like days during the colder months, and perfect for layering under jackets on the actual cold days.

A black scarf with chain graphics ties in the neutral browns from the shoes and sweater, while this great cross-body bag adds to the chain theme and gives the look a little shine. This ensemble would be perfect for class or just hanging around outside on a beautiful, warm winter day!

This look is just as casual as the first, but gives off a slightly edgier vibe. This time, I mixed the sweater with this great pair of black skinnies, and added a classic denim jacket. Sometimes when I have no idea what I want to wear, I like to decide what shoes I want to wear and work from there. Most people I know usually pick out their outfits and then pick out their shoes. But most of the time, I find my shoes inspire my best outfits.

Given that it’s winter and most of us are living in boots right now, for this week’s edition of Outfits Under $100, I’ve created 3 outfits centered around 3 pairs of boots. The best part? Each outfit, including the boots, costs under $100!

Outfit 1: Girly Biker (Total: $95.78)

These boots are the perfect combination of fierce and sexy. These ankle booties are a twist on the military boots trend: The chunky heels – which are also hot this season – add a feminine flare, while the rivet details and buckles add edgy appeal. If you live somewhere chilly, you probably know that tights and leggings don’t always cut it when it comes to staying warm. The cold weather used to stop me from wearing my favorite dresses in the winter. But thigh-high boots changed everything! They come up high enough to cover a good portion of your legs without taking away from an outfit. Now I love wearing them over tights or leggings to stay extra warm in my dresses.

Because thigh-high boots make such a statement, I’ve chosen to pair these gorgeous flat suede boots with a simple but sexy sweater dress. A basic envelope clutch and a statement bracelet finish the look. Just add tights or leggings (and your favorite coat, of course) for a perfect winter night out look!

One thing I’ve learned from living in New York City is to never get dressed without looking up the weather first. Its already hard enough to decide what to wear, but some days it gets even harder when you have freezing temperatures and wind chill to contend with.

Here are my top tips for dressing for colder weather:

• Layer. This may sound obvious to some, but during the winter season, dressing in layers is extremely important. If your legs get cold on your walk to class, wear leggings or stockings under your jeans. If your school or classroom blasts the heat, wear a couple of layers that you can take off once you get inside.
• Double layer. Yes, layering is THAT important. I often wear two pairs of leggings on days when it’s going to be below freezing. Since I have to walk 30 blocks (yikes, I know) to get to school, I always double layer – whether that means two pairs of leggings, two pairs of socks, or even two pairs of mittens.
• Rock winter accessories. When leaving your dorm, don’t forget those hats and gloves! We lose heat the fastest through our heads, so make sure to grab that hat or wear your hood when it gets cold. Plus, these items are a great way to accessorize your look.
• Don’t forget the sunscreen. Okay, maybe this won’t exactly keep you warm, but sunscreen is super important to wear, even in the winter. Many people forget to put on sunscreen in the wintertime, even though they are still at risk for sun damage. In the winter, I like to wear moisturizer with SPF protection. It keeps my face moisturized and protected against the sun at the same time.

To complete the outfit, add these adorable boots, which are lined with faux fur. The extra lining will keep your feet nice and toasty even in the coldest weather. The cute knit headwrap not only keeps your ears warm but makes quite a fashion statement as well.

This outfit is for those battling serious winter temperatures. One of the best ways to keep warm is by wearing thermals, items made of two layers of fabric, which trap more body heat than a single layer of clothing could. This thermal from Urban Outfitters can be worn by itself or under another shirt to add more warmth.

The coat with leatherette sleeves from Forever 21 is another trendy piece: Companies like Zara and Burberry have similar coats for more than 3 times the price right now. Finally, if you live where it constantly snows or rains in the winter, then these boots are really made for walking. They are not only waterproof and stylish, but come with a knit lining that will keep your feet warm at the same time.

This look plays a little more with patterns and color combinations but is still casual like the first. I started by pairing the striped tee with a pair of black skinny jeans and these great leopard loafers with gold details. This amazing black-and-metallic leopard blazer contrasts perfectly with the stripes, and badass black heels with silver details tie in nicely not only with the blazer, but also with the incredible silver-spiked necklace.

To create this look, I started with this gorgeous floral dress and added the black moto jacket for some edgy contrast. Next, I layered on this gorgeous deep red scarf for some extra warmth and a pop of color. As for shoes, I chose a black wedge that not only works with the whole color palette, but will make you seem like you have legs-for-days underneath that maxi!

Outfit 2

This look is much more casual than the first, but just as warm and stylish. Here, I paired the jacket with some awesome leopard print shorts and a quirky black and white graphic tee. Black tights, worn underneath the shorts, keep this outfit winter-friendly, and these great sneakers (which I’ve used in CF posts before – they’re just so perfect…) are comfortable AND stylish. Rock this look while you’re running errands or just hanging around.

The last and most dressy look definitely packs a lot of punch. This time, the moto jacket is paired with a hot (almost neon) pink, ladylike dress – which makes the rougher black accessories pop even more. These badass black lace-up heels are the perfect contrast to the feminine pink dress and even more feminine polka dot tights, and the moto jacket has the same toughening effect. Wear this outfit for a night on the town with the girls – you’re sure to turn heads.

Winter is here and as much as we may love it or hate it, it is time to bring out those winter coats (if you haven’t already)! Sure, coats are meant to keep us warm, but who says they can’t make a fashion statement at the same time?

Your winter coat can be more than just a functional piece; it can add style to every single winter ensemble. But as we all know, coats can be expensive, making it hard to find a stylish one that still fits your budget. It’s not impossible, though – it just takes a little extra work!

Here are some tips on scoring stylish winter jackets at a discount:

• Shop at the end of the season: Jackets tend to go on sale once stores begin bringing out their spring collections. Luckily, stores tend to showcase their spring lines in the middle of winter to prepare for the upcoming season. With good timing, you can grab a great jacket for a fantastic price and still have time to wear it that season! If you do end up buying a jacket in the spring for the next winter, make sure it is a timeless style, something that will still be wearable next winter.
