This season&#8217;s incarnation of the trend, however, is a bit different from how it looked in previous decades. Instead of giving off a rebellious or grungy vibe, spring 2010 ripped denim is all about looking sultry and seductive with a little bit of edge. If you&#8217;re dying for a trendy new pair of jeans, pick up some ripped ones, and follow our tips to rock them right.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">General Tips on Wearing Ripped Denim</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Pick a style. </strong>Ripped denim isn&#8217;t just for jeans this season! You can find distressed details on a variety of denim styles this season, from shorts to mini skirts to jackets. Pick your favorite piece and go from there.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Consider the occasion.</strong> Though some denim pieces (namely dark wash jeans) are usually socially acceptable for wear in dressier situations, distressed denim is very casual and relaxed, and NOT appropriate for a dressy occasion. While torn styles are great for hanging out or running errands, they&#8217;re not great going-out options. Also, if your style leans towards prim and proper, you probably won&#8217;t find ripped jeans appropriate for classroom wear.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Choose how much you want to show.</strong> As a general rule, the smaller the piece, the less distressing it should have. A pair of frayed denim shorts, for example, should be less destroyed than a pair of jeans simply because the cut of the shorts is more revealing. Slashed skinny jeans have been a celebrity favorite, but avoid wearing a slashed mini skirt in an attempt to emulate their look. If you&#8217;re ever feeling overexposed, layer! Try a funky pair of tights or leggings under whatever you&#8217;re wearing for extra coverage and style.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Spend wisely. </strong>You&#8217;re buying denim that&#8217;s already destroyed, so spend accordingly! Though ripped denim is adorable and gives your style a relaxed Cali-girl vibe, this is a trend that you&#8217;re probably not going to want to drop hundreds of dollars on. Feeling creative? It&#8217;s easy (and cheap!) to distress some old jeans you already own! Check out a great DIY tutorial <a href="http://www.jeans-and-accessories.com/how-to-distress-jeans.html" >here</a>.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Keep an eye on placement. </strong>Notice where holes and distressed areas hit on your body. You probably already realize that a gigantic rip near your back pockets isn&#8217;t ideal, but also watch out for holes in or near the knees of your jeans. If you plan on bending down or being active, little holes in these areas can become BIG ones very quickly. Also, be careful when putting on ripped jeans! I&#8217;ve definitely accidentally stuck my toe into a hole and further ripped it on more than one occasion.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit Inspiration</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Distressed</strong></p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-17419" title="Distressed Outfit" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Distressed-Outfit.png" alt="" width="446" height="367" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Product Information: Splendid Oversized Jersey Tee, <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3591" target="_blank" >ShopBop</a>. Sometimes I can&#8217;t help but feel like certain items just aren&#8217;t acceptable on a college campus (especially here, in the Midwest), which makes me sad. Of course, some of you fearless ladies wear what you want to class anyway, but on my campus, this seems like the exception instead of the rule.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">So for all of you who, like me, wish that there was a more reasonable way to wear high fashion items on campus, I&#8217;ve created this Fashion Challenge feature. Each week I&#8217;ll pick a different item, (<strong>I&#8217;m open to suggestions from you in the comments!</strong>) something that is a little more challenging to style, and give you pictures of others wearing the item, resources for finding it, tips, and outfit ideas, so you can fearlessly wear it on campus (and maybe start a new trend) yourself. Today, <strong>the challenging item is slouchy pants</strong>.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">You are probably seeing them everywhere: usually silk or satin, pleated, and tapered, slouchy pants are the new skinny jean. Wearing a pair of silk pants in daylight on campus may seem intimidating, but if you style them right, they make a statement&#8211;in a good way!</p><h3 style="text-align: left;text-align: left;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Tips and Tricks:</h3><ul style="text-align: left;text-align: left;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em;"><li style="list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;">Slouchy pants come in a variety of styles from harem-style to structured and cropped. They also run the spectrum in fabrics: from silk to satin, and even khaki. So don&#8217;t be afraid to try a few on before you find what works for you!</li><li style="list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;">Remember that if you choose silk or satin, they aren&#8217;t as forgiving as some other fabrics and can cling in strange places. Choose your undergarments accordingly.</li><li style="list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;">Slouchy pants can be dressed up, as Ms. Missoni proves above, but it can also be casual campus wear. <a title="Karla's closet" href="http://karlascloset.com/" target="_blank" >Karla</a>, in picture one, dresses down her silk trousers with a classic denim jacket. For Spring, Donatella Versace was telling everyone who went backstage that she&#8217;d been inspired by Tim Burton&#8217;s Alice in Wonderland&#8230;In their tiny pelmet skirts, jazzily printed dresses, and super-fitted suitings, the girls were all legs and glossy hair—quintessential Versace women (though, it has to be said, still quite a lot thinner than they used to be in Gianni&#8217;s day). That&#8217;s a powerful sight to see on any runway, but somehow none of it came across as too slavishly reverential or in any way vulgar. &#8211; <em>Style.com</em></p></blockquote><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">We all know that Versace designs are completely unique and one-of-a-kind. With that said, I truly believe that <strong>any</strong> collection can be translated into an everyday wardrobe. <strong>The trick is to capture the vibe and feeling of each look &#8211; the overarching aspect that inspires you</strong>.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Bright Colors</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Versace is known for her use of bight colors every season and the spring collection was no exception. The bright and neon shades that came down the runway were definitely attention-grabbing but still managed to look wearable instead of over-the-top. A common color in the collection was bright yellow, seen on mini dresses, tops and micro skirts. Although most of us probably couldn&#8217;t pull of head-to-toe neon yellow (not that we&#8217;d really want to anyway), a pop of bold color is a great way to spice up an outfit.</p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-16986 aligncenter" title="Versace Spring 2010 RTW" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/yellow.jpg" alt="" width="591" height="415" /></p><p style="text-align: center;text-align: center;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><em>Product Information: Long sleeve Tee &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3491" target="_blank" >Gap</a>, Sunglasses &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3492" target="_blank" >Urban Outfitters</a>, Knit Dress &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3493" target="_blank" >eDressMe</a>, Wallet &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3494" target="_blank" >Buckle</a>, Pocket Detail Skirt &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3495" target="_blank" >ASOS</a>, Bandage Skirt &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3496" target="_blank" >Express</a>, Silver Cuff &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3497" target="_blank" >White House Black Market</a></em></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Things to Keep in Mind:</strong></p><ul style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em;"><li style="list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;"> Resist the Bumblebee Syndrome. A sheer blouse with a small print is perfect for both the office (with a pair of trousers) and class (skinny jeans and flats). Also, her character is never without a the ultimate piece of classy jewelry: pearls.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">If this classic style is something you love, here are <strong>four modern looks</strong> inspired by Grace Kelly&#8217;s style in Rear Window:</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit #1: Chic and Timeless</h3><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-16859 aligncenter" title="Rear Window Outfit 1" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/RW1.jpg" alt="Rear Window Outfit 1" width="445" height="366" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Product Information:</strong> Dress- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3462" target="_blank" >Modcloth</a>, Necklace- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3463" target="_blank" >Dillard&#8217;s</a>, Earrings- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3464" target="_blank" >ASOS</a>, Pumps- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3465" target="_blank" >Piperlime</a>, Bag- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3466" target="_blank" >Nordstrom</a></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">This gorgeous green dress captures the look and silhouette of many of the dresses worn in Rear Window, but at a more modern length. Add some classic black pumps and a sleek clutch to help streamline the look and make it work for an evening out. Timeless pearl earrings and a matching necklace finish off this forever-chic look.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit #2: Classically Casual</h3><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-16860 aligncenter" title="Rear Window Outfit 2" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/RW2.jpg" alt="Rear Window Outfit 2" width="434" height="377" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Product Information: </strong>Skirt- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3467" target="_blank" >Urban Outfitters</a>, Top- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3468" target="_blank" >J. The t-shirt is made out of a comfortable and crisp linen fabric and would look great when tucked into this high-waisted skirt. Belts that define the waist are used throughout the film and this woven skinny belt is a perfect modern way to get a similar look. These flats are comfortable yet chic and the bracelet is a modern take on the typical pearl bracelet.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit #3: Spring in Your Step</h3><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-16861 aligncenter" title="Rear Window Outfit 3" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/RW3.jpg" alt="Rear Window Outfit 3" width="455" height="354" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Product Information: </strong>Dress- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3472" target="_blank" >Anthropologie</a>, Belt- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3473" target="_blank" >Forever 21</a>, Earrings- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3474" target="_blank" >Overstock.com</a>, Clutch- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3475" target="_blank" >ASOS</a>, Shoes- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3476" target="_blank" >Nine West</a></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">This dress also captures the &#8217;50s silhouette, this time with a fun floral print. Once again, the waist is defined by using an orange belt, while the matching orange clutch is perfect for spring and summer. The earrings echo the hardware on the bag. Finally, the ivory peep-toe wedges are great for warmer weather.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit #4: 1950&#8217;s Effortless</h3><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-16862 aligncenter" title="Rear Window Outfit 4" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/RW4.jpg" alt="Rear Window Outfit 4" width="402" height="369" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Product Information:</strong> Shirt- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3477" target="_blank" >Nordstrom</a>, Jeans- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3478" target="_blank" >Piperlime</a>, Ring- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3479" target="_blank" >Arden B.</a>, Purse- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3480" target="_blank" >ASOS</a>, Loafers- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3481" target="_blank" >Aldo</a></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">This is a direct interpretation of the final outfit Grace Kelly wears in the film. While jeans were only worn for casual occasions in the &#8217;50s, the cuffed and cropped style was very popular. The button-up shirt is a classic piece in another warm-weather-friendly color, coral. These loafers are comfortable with a slightly masculine touch and the purse has a similar look to the loafers for a bit of &#8217;50s matching. Finally, classic pearls are reinvented again, this time in a fun cocktail ring.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Feelin&#8217; inspired?</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">What do you think of this classic type of fashion? The dress in this outfit is the perfect blend of casual and dressy: the cotton material gives it a relaxed feel, while the silhouette is still classically polished. The fun color also adds to the tropical feel! Since it can get cold at night, it&#8217;s always a good idea to bring a wrap or pashmina with you when you go out.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit Number 3: Hitting the Beach</h3><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-16638" title="Beach Outfit" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/BeachOutfit.png" alt="Beach Outfit" width="467" height="346" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Product Information: Floral Halter Bandeau Bikini, <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3400" target="_blank" >American Eagle</a>. As Lauren wrote in his program notes, &#8220;I am inspired by the character of the worker, the farmer, the cowboy, the pioneer women of the prairies.&#8221; Over the past few weeks, the CF community has been buzzing about the Spring trends and how to make them your own, and Lauren&#8217;s Spring collection incorporates these hot trends in an all-American way.</p><blockquote style="margin: 1em 3em; padding: .5em 1em 0 1em; border-left: 5px solid #00ABFF; background-color: #CAEDFF;margin: 1em 3em; padding: .5em 1em 0 1em; border-left: 5px solid #00ABFF; background-color: #CAEDFF;"><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;margin: 0; text-align: justify; padding: 0 0 .5em 0;margin: 0; text-align: justify; padding: 0 0 .5em 0;">It was <strong>cinematic</strong>, like most of Lauren&#8217;s collections. And it goes without saying that his vision is a romanticized one: Henry Fonda&#8217;s character in The Grapes of Wrath didn&#8217;t carry a lizard-skin bag. In fact, the show played like a rags-to-riches tale, a story line dear to the designer&#8217;s heart. After a few <strong>white cotton organdy dresses</strong> and some thirties-esque suits—think <strong>pinstriped</strong> three-pieces with cropped and gathered pants or a boxy d.b. with fuller trousers—the <strong>work jackets</strong> and carpenter pants reappeared in blue ombré <strong>silk charmeuse</strong>, the nightshirts came striped with <strong>beads</strong>, and the overalls were transformed into a floor-grazing lamé dress. &#8211; <em>Style.com</em></p></blockquote><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Over the last few weeks I&#8217;ve highlighted <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/fashion-tips/runway-looks-for-less-cynthia-steffe-spring-2010-rtw/" >Steffe&#8217;s</a> femininity, <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/fashion-tips/runway-looks-for-less-roberto-cavalli-resort-2010/" >Cavalli&#8217;s</a> tribal prints, <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/fashion-tips/runway-looks-for-less-alexander-wang-resort-2010/" >Wang&#8217;s</a> nautical inspiration and even <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/fashion-tips/runway-looks-for-less-balmain-spring-2010-rtw/" >Balmain&#8217;s</a> studded leather, and I hope each week you find a little inspiration from each designer&#8217;s unique style. With a mix of ripped jeans, newsboy caps and over-sized blouses, his Spring 2010 models looked like they could have stepped out of a 1920&#8217;s farm (albeit, a very chic one). I admit, I thought some of the looks that came down the runway were a little too over-the-top for daily wear (unless you&#8217;re on a <a href="http://cdn.thefrisky.com/images/uploads/Jessica_biel_in_vogue_m.jpg" >Vogue photoshoot</a>) but they are easily translated into budget-friendly looks.</p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-16202" title="Ralph Lauren Outfit #1" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/12.jpg" alt="Ralph Lauren Outfit" width="520" height="414" /></p><p style="text-align: center;text-align: center;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><em>Product Information:Cuffed Sleeve Shirt &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3308" target="_blank" >Charlotte Russe</a>, Vest &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3309" target="_blank" >Forever 21</a>, Leather Belt &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3310" target="_blank" >Martin + Osa</a>, Button Front Shirt &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3311" target="_blank" >Charlotte Russe</a>, Skinny Jean &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3312" target="_blank" >Forever 21</a>, Boyfriend Jean &#8211; <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3313" target="_blank" >New York and Company</a> </em></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Tips to Make it Work:</strong></p><ul style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em;"><li style="list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;"> Although cuffed boyfriend jeans are hard for many to pull off (especially if you&#8217;re on the shorter side), when they&#8217;re done right they really make a statement. Although mens shirts are meant to be loose, you don&#8217;t want to end up looking like you just grabbed something out of your Dad&#8217;s closet. Floral print is always one of the hottest trends for Spring and a <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/fashion-tips/how-to-wear-floral-print/" >favorite</a> of the writers here at CF. Try a fitted tank dress and a cropped, distressed jacket for an 80&#8217;s vibe. Not your style? Try an a-line dress with opaque tights and flats to create a more preppy look.</li><li style="list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;list-style-image: url(http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/themes/cftheme/images/pink-star.png); margin-left: 15px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 20px;"> As always, try to find a balance between fitted and loose pieces. A ruffled or flowy dress can be easily balanced by a fitted jacket. Likewise, a tight dress works well with a loose-fitting denim jacket. Try to avoid pairing an oversized jacket and dress together. Similarly, don&#8217;t rock two skin-tight pieces at once.</li></ul><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Tying it All Together</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Each season, Ralph Lauren&#8217;s collections are inspired by his love of the American spirit. His Spring &#8216;10 collection was no different. Pulling inspiration from the Great Depression and classic 1920&#8217;s and 30&#8217;s fashions, Lauren created looks that can be translated into every-day wear for college students on a budget. With such closet staples like jeans and button-up blouses, how can you go wrong?</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>What are your thoughts on the collection? This movie, released in 1938, follows the crazy adventure of a scientist (Cary Grant) who meets a somewhat absent-minded and bold woman (Katharine Hepburn). The two end up in various predicaments, including taking care of a leopard named Baby.</p><p style="text-align: center;text-align: center;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><a rel="attachment wp-att-16077" href="http://www.collegefashion.net/fashion-tips/inspired-by-bringing-up-baby/attachment/bubstyle/" ><img class="size-full wp-image-16077 aligncenter" title="Bringing Up Baby Style" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/BUBstyle.jpg" alt="Bringing Up Baby Style" width="467" height="253" /></a></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Katharine Hepburn&#8217;s style in Bringing Up Baby can best be described as <strong>glamourous</strong> and <strong>elegant</strong>&#8211; very <strong>Old Hollywood</strong>. Every outfit had some kind of interesting detail, whether it was a bold sash, a ruffled collar or an oversized bow. The film even incorporated some menswear-inspired outfits that Ms. Hepburn was famous for wearing.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Here are <strong>three outfits inspired by Katherine Hepburn&#8217;s style in the film:</strong></p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit #1: Effortless and Chic</h3><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-16085 aligncenter" title="Bringing Up Baby Outfit 1" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/BUB2.jpg" alt="Bringing Up Baby Outfit 1" width="445" height="380" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Product Information: </strong>Dress- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3290" target="_blank" >ModCloth</a>, Hat- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3291" target="_blank" >Anthropologie</a>, Ring- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3292" target="_blank" >ASOS</a>, Shoes- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3293" target="_blank" >Urban Outfitters</a>, Bag- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3294" target="_blank" >Fred Flare</a></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">This outfit gives off a very 1930s vibe. This long-sleeved dress is conservative yet stylish in a pretty blue color. The cloche hat is similar to one Hepburn wears in the film with an adorable flower detail. The ring is a homage to Baby used in a modern way, while the t-strap shoes continue the vintage feel. Finally, this sturdy, classic bag is perfect for everyday use.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit #2: Menswear Inspired</h3><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-16084 aligncenter" title="Bringing Up Baby Outfit 2" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/BUB11.jpg" alt="Bringing Up Baby Outfit 2" width="435" height="513" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Product Information: </strong>Blouse- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3295" target="_blank" >net-a-porter.com</a>, Pants- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3296" target="_blank" >Forever 21</a>, Bag- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3297" target="_blank" >ASOS</a>, Oxfords- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3298" target="_blank" >Nordstrom</a>, Bracelet- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3299" target="_blank" >Urban Outfitters</a></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">As I mentioned before, Katharine Hepburn was famous for wearing menswear. At the time, the idea of women wearing pants in a film was very uncommon, but it was <a href="http://entertainment.ca.msn.com/movies/galleries/gallery.aspx?cp-documentid=21843697&amp;page=9" target="_blank" >rumored</a> that Hepburn convinced the studio to allow her to wear some in the movie in an unconventional way.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">This outfit is perfect for the warmer weather that is (hopefully) right around the corner. These wide-leg pants are made of linen, which makes them super lightweight. They are also high-waisted&#8211; perfect for tucking the ruffled blouse into. These oxford pumps are a nod to menswear, but with a feminine touch. And the bag has intricate detail that is similar to the detailing on the lightweight gold cuff.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Outfit #3: Glamazon</h3><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-16086 aligncenter" title="Bringing Up Baby Outfit 3" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/BUB3.jpg" alt="Bringing Up Baby Outfit 3" width="445" height="334" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Product Information: </strong>Dress- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3300" target="_blank" >ModCloth</a>, Clutch- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3301" target="_blank" >ASOS</a>, Earrings- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3302" target="_blank" >Forever 21</a>, Pumps- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3303" target="_blank" >Nordstrom</a></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">In the film, Katharine Hepburn&#8217;s character wears a gorgeous floor-length gold lamé gown, in an iconic scene. This is a modern take on that look: instead of a gold lamé gown, this dress has a metallic gold waistband and a classic shape. A patent clutch and some elegant earrings continue the glam yet classic look. Some leopard print heels add a fun touch and, again, pay tribute to Baby.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Feelin&#8217; inspired?</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Have you ever seen Bringing Up Baby? We don&#8217;t tend to worry so much about what will flatter our hips or waist the best because, for the most part, no one really scrutinizes that sort of thing during 8am calculus. But come time for a dinner out or a party, every college girl wants to look her best.</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">One of the key elements of looking fun and fierce for a night on the town is to keep your body type in mind. Just because a dress looks amazing on your roommate doesn&#8217;t mean it will look so hot on you. So, I&#8217;ve pulled together some basic going out looks sure to flatter five basic body shapes. Keep in mind that these rules apply whether you&#8217;re a size 2 or a size 12 &#8211; it&#8217;s all about flattering your body&#8217;s proportions, no matter your measurements.</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Shape #1: Pear</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">The &#8220;pear&#8221; or &#8220;inverted triangle&#8221; body shape is generally smaller on top and wide at the hips. The most flattering look for this body shape is a high waisted a-line skirt that accentuates a small waist and slightly flares out from the hips. A form-fitting top with an interesting neckline or ruffle helps bring the eye up and balance the body&#8217;s proportions. Finish off the look with a classic pair of pointed toe pumps that lengthen the look of the entire lower body.</p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16368" title="Cute party outfit 1" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/party-look-1.jpg" alt="Cute party outfit 1" width="400" height="400" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Product Information: Top- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3267" target="_blank" >Splendid</a>, Skirt- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3268" target="_blank" >Arden B.</a>, Heels- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3269" target="_blank" >Nine West</a>, Earrings- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3270" target="_blank" >Chico&#8217;s</a>, Bracelet- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3271" target="_blank" >Forever 21</a></p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Shape #2: Apple</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Whether you were born with a fuller mid-section or you&#8217;ve just developed one thanks to late night snacking in college, you&#8217;re an apple shape if you carry weight around your middle. While some might say this body type is difficult to dress, figure-flattery is easy thanks to this season&#8217;s cornucopia of flowy tunics. Steer clear of any tunics with an elastic banding at the bottom, though, as this can create an odd bubble effect. Make sure to pair loose tops with a pair of skinny jeans, to play up your fabulous legs and balance out the volume up-top.</p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16369" title="Party outfit for an apple shape body" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/party-look-2.jpg" alt="Party outfit for an apple shape body" width="400" height="400" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Product Information: Top- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3272" target="_blank" >BB Dakota</a>, Jeans- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3273" target="_blank" >American Eagle</a>, Heels- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3274" target="_blank" >Michael Antonio</a>, Earrings- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3275" target="_blank" >ASOS</a>, Bangles- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3276" target="_blank" >Buckle</a></p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Shape #3: Ruler</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">If you&#8217;re built like a supermodel with few curves to speak of, you can pretty much pull off anything. That said, if you want to create more of an hourglass shape, that&#8217;s possible with a bit of strategic dressing. One of the best ways to show off a straight figure and long legs is with a tight tank dress, capitalizing on this season&#8217;s bandage dress trend. Make your look pop with brightly colored high heels and trendy accessories.</p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16370" title="Party look for a ruler shaped body" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/party-look-3.jpg" alt="Party look for a ruler shaped body" width="400" height="400" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Product Information: Dress- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3277" target="_blank" >FULL TILT</a>, Heels- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3278" target="_blank" >KG by Kurt Geiger</a>, Necklace- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3279" target="_blank" >Betsey Johnson</a>, Purse- <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3280" target="_blank" >Forever 21</a></p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">Shape #4: Busty</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">If you are blessed with plenty of natural cleavage, you&#8217;re probably used to walking the fine line between looking matronly and falling out of your shirt. A moderately low-cut top that is neither too tight nor too loose is your best bet for a flattering night out look. You&#8217;ll look balanced and chic, and your body won&#8217;t appear to have been swallowed up by your upper half. It seems as if when warmer weather begins to hit, the need to &#8220;lighten up&#8221; our style comes along with it. Most of us start highlighting our hair, wearing pastels, and embracing a girlier, more feminine aesthetic. Floral prints are a great incarnation of this feminine spring style, and lucky for us, they&#8217;re super trendy!</p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Whether you choose a floral print dress, leggings, or a pretty floral top, there are plenty of opportunities to add some flower power to your spring look. This guide will show you how!</p><h3 style="color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;color: #FF00B1; font-size: 14px;">General Tips for Wearing Floral Print</h3><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><strong>Pick a size.</strong> We&#8217;ve all seen traditional &#8220;ditsy&#8221; floral print&#8211;dainty, feminine, and totally classic. While this look will continue to be popular, this season you can also expect to see a more contemporary take&#8211;large, statement-making graphic florals, on tops and dresses. Middle-of-the-road kind of girl? Mid-range floral might be your thing! Expect to see medium-sized floral prints on leggings and patterned tights.</p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-15972" title="Floral Print Clothes and Accessories" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/FloralSizes-600x316.png" alt="Floral Print Clothes and Accessories" width="600" height="316" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Product Information: Mina Flower Print Dress, <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3247" target="_blank" >Asos</a>. Go girly.</strong> Floral print is a definite staple in the girly-girl closet: think Lilly Pulitzer meets Vera Bradley. If southern-inspired style isn&#8217;t your thing, you can still create a totally girly look by picking up your favorite skirts, dresses, and blouses in tiny floral prints. Traditionally girly styles are made even more feminine with the addition of this fun print.</p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-15973" title="How to wear floral print" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/GirlyOutfit.png" alt="How to wear floral print" width="511" height="420" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Product Information:Vila One Shoulder Flower Print Dress, <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3257" target="_blank" >Asos</a>. Go edgy.</strong> With the right outfit, floral print can also have an edgy feel. Instead of picking dainty pastel florals, try a larger print in darker colors. As a bonus, these darker florals can be worn into cooler seasons, too! Another way to give your floral look an edgier vibe is to pair a feminine floral with tougher accessories. Think a floral print dress with a leather jacket and oxfords, or floral print leggings and a black tunic. Mix and match for a look that&#8217;s all your own!</p><p class="center" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;text-align: center; padding: 10px 0px 10px 0px;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-15970" title="Edgy way to wear florals" src="http://www.collegefashion.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/EdgyOutfit.png" alt="Edgy way to wear florals" width="447" height="396" /></p><p style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">Product Information: Free People Poison Apple Floral Dress, <a href="http://www.collegefashion.net/link.php?id=3261" target="_blank" >Bluefly</a>.
