A few months ago, Target announced their upcoming collaboration with Mulberry, the luxury handbag company based in the UK, but not much was known about the collection at the time.

However, last week Target teamed up with Gilt Groupe for an exclusive sneak preview sale and the first images of the collection were released.

The collection officially launches in Target stores and online on October 10 and will be available through December 24. Prices range from $15 to $50 and there will be a total of eight bags released.

While some clothing retailers may be forced to raise clothing prices due to production costs next year, H&M is vowing to do the opposite.

Vogue Daily is reporting that H&M, which already carries clothing fairly inexpensive clothing, will begin lowering prices, starting with their fall line.

Jennifer Uglialoro, the H&M’s PR manager, explained the company’s decision to lower prices:

“This season, we bumped up the fashion and lowered the prices even more. It’s the same business concept we’ve had for over 60 years, but this season we’re focused even more on a lower price. We’re very cost-conscious; for fall you’ll be seeing trench coats for $20.”

In addition to $20 trenches, stores will also start carrying dresses that cost less than $5. The dress pictured above retails for $4.95 at H&M, a price point which The Cut compared to the cost of a Starbucks frappuccino.

Uglialoro also explained how the company can produce such inexpensive clothes, while other retailers are raising their prices:

“We have over 2,000 stores in 37 countries. This provides high volume and there is no middleman. We have our own team of over 100 in-house designers and we do all our own production.”

JCPenney announced their latest designer collaboration with Mango, the popular Barcelona-based retailer. However, unlike previous collaborations like I Heart Ronson and Olsenboye, MNG by Mango will be sold in a shop within the store, similar to JCPenny’s in-store Sephoras.

According to WWD, MNG by Mango will launch in 77 JCPenney stores this Wednesday and the department store hopes to have 600 Mango shops opened by February.

Pieces in the collection will cost between $10 and $160 and new items will be brought in every two weeks, meaning there will be tons of options to choose from. According to FabSugar, the collection that launches on Wednesday will include lots of menswear-inspired pieces like tuxedo jackets and twill military jackets.

Lorraine Hitch, JCPenney’s general merchandise manager, described the collection:

“It’s like boy-meets-girl. It’s effortless. There are great layering pieces and it’s really versatile.”

Vogue UK is reporting that Victoria Beckham will be launching a line of handbags with accessories designer Katie Hillier. The line is in the early conceptual stages, so there’s no word yet on when it will be released or its price range. Vogue said the line would balance Posh’s well-known fashion sense and Hillier’s technical expertise to make bags that are sure to create a buzz in the fashion world.

First Look at Tucker for Target

Target is launching a limited edition designer collaboration, Tucker by Gaby Basora, which will be released this fall. According to nitro:licious, the collection will be available in stores and online from September 12th through October 17th. Only two images from the lookbook have leaked so far, which you can check out above.

Stylist Sarah Parlow, who got a sneak peak of the lookbook, wrote on her website about the collection:

“It is a huge improvement over previous collections by Jean Paul Gautier and Zac Posen that looked very junior and cheap.  Most of the pieces looked and felt much more expensive than the $23-60 they will retail for.”

Target recently announced their newest designer collaboration with William Rast. The line– founded by everyone’s favorite boy band member, Justin Timberlake, and his childhood friend Trace Ayala– will launch in Target stores and online December 19th.

According to WWD, the line will be available through January 22nd and includes both men’s and women’s collections.

Both collections will include denim, outerwear and sportswear inspired by “the iconography of biker culture and American denim heritage” according to Colin Dyne, chief executive officer for William Rast.

Although prices haven’t been announced yet, Target spokeswoman Katie Heinze said:

“Our guests have varied tastes and this collection provides the perfect mix of rocker attitude and laid-back appeal for men and women everywhere at affordable prices.”

Although it hasn’t been officially announced yet, photos and information have leaked about Target’s latest designer collaboration. According to Racked NY, the popular shoe label Dolce Vita has worked with Target to create an exclusive new shoe collection.

If you live in the NYC area, these shoes are available right now at the brand new East Harlem Target, but as of today they’re also available online at Target.com for all you online shoppers! However, the collection will officially launch in stores nationwide August 22nd.

All of the shoes are priced under $35, which is around one-third of the cost of a typical Dolce Vita shoe. Of course, this low price point means that the footwear will be made of cheaper faux-leather instead of the usual higher-quality materials fans of the brand are used to.

Although it is a store that is often accused of copying designs, Forever 21 will soon be launching its first-ever designer collaboration, taking cues from stores like H&M and Target.

According to WWD, the collection, designed by LA-based celebrity favorite Brian Lichtenberg, will be available starting August 13.

Lichtenberg is known for his edgy designs, most often seen on red carpets and in music videos. You’re probably familiar with one of his most famous designs: Lady Gaga’s caution-tape outfit, from the “Telephone” music video.

He will be recreating Gaga’s look in his Forever 21 collection, with a tank top criss-crossed with caution-tape (which you can check out in the picture above). The collection will be available in 200 Forever 21 stores and will include a total of nine women’s and three men’s pieces, all priced under $15.

Lichtenberg said he designed the collection with style and a budget in mind:

“It is going to be for the customer that is younger and has seen my work on celebrities and musicians, but doesn’t have the money to plunk down for my main line. This is definitely going to be a great opportunity to be on a more global scale.”

MAC will soon be taking a villainous turn by collaborating with Disney to create a new collection inspired by some of its biggest scoundrels .

According to WWD, the cosmetics collection– called Venomous Villains– will be available starting Sept. 30 and will include a total of 40 bold hues priced between $12- $29.50.

When asked why they chose to create a collection inspired by villains, Jennifer Balbier, vice president of product development for MAC, said that:

“It’s great to be sweet and kind, of course, but everybody wants to take a bite of forbidden fruit from time to time.”

The collection will be divided into four lineups, each inspired by a different villain: the Evil Queen from Snow White, Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent and Cruella De Vil of 101 Dalmatians. The only male in the lineup is Dr. Facilier from Disney’s most recent animated movie, The Princess and the Frog.

According to Johanna Mooney, beauty director for Disney Consumer Products, the line will be a fresh approach to makeup collections:

“In beauty, women look for fantasy and transformation. When you go to a makeup counter, you want to express an attitude — what we’re finding is the Disney characters are great mediums to tell those stories. I think it’s a little unexpected when people see Disney playing in adult beauty, but as adults, we relate to the classic stories on new levels.”

Back in March, it was announced that Madonna would be designing a new clothing line for Macy’s. Using her daughter Lourdes as inspiration, the line– called Material Girl– is targeted towards girls ages 13 to 25 and will debut at Macy’s stores on August 3rd.

According to WWD, most pieces will cost between $12 and $40 and the collection is looking to rival similar clothing from stores like Forever 21 and H&M.

When asked about the inspiration behind the designs, Lanie List, executive vice president of merchandising at Iconix Brand Group said:

“The collection is a nod to the original Material Girl look, but Lola [Lourdes’ nickname] is part and parcel of making it relevant to today.”

In addition to being involved in the development of the line, Lourdes is also helping with marketing the brand. A personal blog written by her was recently launched on the Material Girl website.

Madonna also handpicked a young celebrity to be the face of the brand, but her identity is being kept hush-hush until the end of this month. However, according to nitro:licious, she’s “on a hit teen drama series and is known for her frayed, rocker-tinged style off-screen.” If you’re curious, you can check out a viral video to try and guess her identity here.

Earlier this week, Mulberry announced its upcoming collaboration with Target. The brand of leather goods didn’t specify the price range for their Target collection, but it surely will be a fraction of what their luxury lines cost.

Mulberry recently created a fashion frenzy with the Alexa bag (pictured above).  The messenger-tote bag hybrid was inspired by former MTV host and fashion muse Alexa Chung.  It’s so sought after that the waiting list is reported to contain thousands of eager buyers.

The Bayswater tote (pictured below), however, is Mulberry’s most iconic piece.  It features a timeless shape and comes in a variety of colors. Here’s hoping the Target collection features incarnations of both the Alexa and Bayswater looks!
