When you’re getting ready for a night out with the girls or a first date with a guy, it’s all about the outfit and makeup. And one of my favorite ways to spruce up a going out makeup look is by adding false eyelashes.

While false eyelashes can be intimidating at first, they’re easier to apply than you think and can create a dramatic look that no mascara can accomplish. Below, I’ll show you how to apply false eyelashes step by step!

How to Apply False Lashes:

Products Used:

  • A pair of lashes (I used a pair purchased from eBay, but any pair will work)
  • Tweezers (You can also use your fingers, but it’s a lot easier with tweezers)
  • Eyelash Glue – DUO
  • Mascara – MaryKay
  • Eyelash Curler – e.l.f

Extra Tips for Applying Falsies:

  • Purchase long, but natural-looking pairs for nights out. Leave the jeweled caterpillar lashes for Halloween.
  • Expensive lashes are UNNECESSARY. Head to your local beauty supply store for brands like Ardell or Red Cherry, or just pick some up at the drugstore!
  • Be sure to remove the glue with makeup remover before pulling the lashes off to avoid pulling out any hairs. (Ouch!)
  • Experiment, experiment, experiment! Try individuals or half lashes to find the look you like best.
  • Practice! Applying lashes gets easier the more you do it; keep trying and you’ll become a pro in no time!

Thoughts?

Do you like falsies? How often do you go out in false lashes? Was the video helpful? Let me know your thoughts!

I’m definitely not a fan of false eyelashes- probably because I don’t wear them all that often. But the video was a big help. Maybe I’ll even try on those false eyelashes I have sitting somewhere…

I’m getting married in January, and am really wanting to try false eyelashes. Are there any brands people would suggest?

I like the tips here though I am not as well kind of using fake lashes but who knows? that is when I will be able to need it. Will keep it once trouble comes.

Huge, huge, HUGE fan of falsies! Especially love the deals you can get in Taiwan, Japan and HK! Such a huge selection but it’s the eyelash glue that really makes it!

@CM if you’re looking for cheap non committal eyelashes, look on eBay (we’re talking boxes of 5 pairs of lashes for as cheap as $2). As for glue, I suggest Duo (available at any makeup store – Sephora will definitely have it).

I also like to use q-tips to move the lash around. It soaks up any extra glue and it’s easy to control.

I don’t use false lashes very often, but I will bust them out for special occasions. They definitely add drama to the eye, and as long as they’re not bedazzled or colored I’m all for it!

CM for your wedding you should get Eyelash Extensions, alot of salons offer them and they last way longer than just one night. :) Wayyyy more expensive, but soooo worth it.

@Lauren I don’t wear falsies daily, but I LOVE them for when you want to do a little extra for the night :)

@CM It depends if you are having your makeup professionally done they will probably provide lashes. If you are planning to do it yourself then I would go with Ardell or Red Cherry. Good quality lash for cheap. It’s also sold in stores so you can see them in real life before you purchase :) Congratulations, btw. I hope it’s going to be everything you dreamed of :)

@Tara I hope this tut can come to use at some point girl :)

@Lesley LOVE, LOVE, LOVE DUO glue. I’ve tried Revlon’s, but for some reason it didn’t feel quite as secure as DUO glue. I love getting the huge baches from eBay as well. :)

@Jenny Ooo great tip, I’ll have to try that out! Haha yes I tend to leave the dramatic ones for Halloween or theatrical purposes.

@Faith Ohh that is another great option :)
